Translations
Niall took part in a translation exchange through Literature Across Frontiers / The Edwin Morgan Trust in Prague and Scotland in 2022. His poems are published in Czech translations by Jitka Bret Sbrová, Ondřej Lipár and Olga Stehlíková in the anthology Czech-Scottish Poetry Connections, alongside Niall’s Gaelic versions of their poems.
Niall’s poems are also published in Czech in Tvar, Host and, in versions by Petra Johana Poncarová and Martin Světlík, Plav.
Niall has been working on translations from various Catalan poets. His Scots translation of Maria-Mercè Marçal’s ‘Canço de Fer Camí’ (‘Journey Sang’) was published in The Scotsman as Poem of the Week.

Niall’s translations from Christopher Whyte’s longer Gaelic works - into English and Scots - appeared in New Writing Scotland and have been collected in Whyte’s Saltire Prize-nominated volume, Ceum air Cheum. Read Niall's translation of the title poem at Poetry International here.
Other translation projects
Niall has translated the work of various Irish writers into Scottish Gaelic for STEALL, including acclaimed poet Biddy Jenkinson in the first number of the journal. He is also editing a short anthology of Glasgow Gaelic verse, Bàrdachd a' Bhaile Mhòir, featuring English and Scots translations from the work of a number of Gaelic poets.
